The database and register are established and maintained in accordance with Part 5 of the Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Act 2003 and the Torres Strait Islander Cultural Heritage Act 2003. Click here for our public access cultural heritage map and resources. The map contains publicly available information recorded in the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural heritage register maintained under the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural heritage legislation.
The register includes information about cultural heritage studies recorded under Part 6 of the legislation, cultural heritage management plans registered under Part 7 of the legislation, designated landscape areas recorded under previous legislation, registered cultural heritage bodies, and details about statutory Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander parties for an area.
The public map does not show details of sites recorded in the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural heritage database, unless approved by the relevant Traditional Owner party. If an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander party wishes to feature any sites or other cultural heritage information in the public access area of this online portal please contact the Cultural Heritage Unit cultural.heritage@datsip.qld.gov.au
Persons carrying out activities that may impact on Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander cultural heritage can request information from the database and register via the online Search facility available through this portal.

If you are a land user or consultant who regularly searches the database and register you can apply to be a Registered User. As a Registered User you will be able to access a self-service area of the system.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander parties can also apply for special access to the database and register.

Access to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural heritage database and register

Adding information to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural heritage database

If you are a registered Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Party or a Registered User of the database and register, you can submit information for inclusion on the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander database through an online submission process. The relevant online information submission forms will be available when you log in to the system.
You can apply to be a Registered User or Registered Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Party via the Apply for Login area of this portal.
If you wish to submit information for inclusion on the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander database and you are not a Registered User or Registered Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Party you should contact the Cultural Heritage Unit by email cultural.heritage@datsip.qld.gov.au

Registered Users are land users, consultants, or other advisors that frequently undertake searches of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander cultural heritage database and register. Registered Users can access a self-service area of the system for searching the database and register.
Registered Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Parties are statutory Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Parties or registered cultural heritage bodies as defined under Part 4 of the legislation. These parties are able to access an interactive GIS map containing all information currently held by the Department in relation to cultural heritage sites and places recorded in their area of responsibility.
